The power to make a difference
A global leader in life science and analytical technologies from Canada, SCIEX have been supporting World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) since 2015, raising more than £31,000 for us and our vital cancer prevention and survival work.
Their vision of placing the power of life-changing answers into the hands of those who care, everywhere, aligns with WCRF’s focus on empowering the public and healthcare providers with information that could ultimately save lives.
International Women's Day blog series
This was highlighted in their International Women’s Day blog series, which coincided with the company’s 2019 donation to us, and explored where this money could potentially end up and the impact it has.
Each blog was written by a woman with first-hand knowledge or experience of cancer, offering three unique perspectives on the power of corporate support to make a difference:
- A Diagnosis And A “Difficult Waiting Game" was written by one of SCIEX’s employees, Dawn, about her experience of breast cancer.
- Uncovering the Links Between Childhood Growth, Body Size, and a Woman’s Risk of Breast Cancer was the second in the series written by a WCRF-funded breast cancer researcher, Dr Jennifer Baker.
- Fueling Up: Eating To Stay Strong When You Have Cancer was the third in the series with specialist dietitian Deborah Howland sharing how our Eat well during cancer guide helps her patients.
How the funding is used
Money raised by SCIEX could go towards funding specific cancer prevention or survival research projects – such as our annual grant programme, our health information campaigns, where we increase public knowledge of cancer prevention through diet, weight and physical activity with the help of healthcare professionals, or long and short-term projects unique to WCRF.
Their support allows us to reach audiences and tackle problems in ways that wouldn’t be possible otherwise, taking us one step closer to realising our vision of a future free from preventable cancers.
