On warmer days, there’s nothing better than enjoying the great outdoors with a cool and refreshing drink in hand.

With so many different drinks available, it can be tempting to skip the water for more flavoursome alternatives.

But what many of us might not think about is the impact on our waistline. Lots of summer drinks are loaded with sugar and calories but, because they don’t tend to fill us up, it’s easy to take in more calories than you realise and pile on the pounds.

For example, a bottle of energy drink is easy to drink in one go, but actually contains more calories than four bananas. And you’d have to get through nearly six apples to eat as many calories as there are in a caramel blended coffee drink that you can gulp down in minutes!
