Welcome to World Cancer Research Fund • United Kingdom
How we can help you

What we can help you with
Healthy Food World Cancer Research Fund is the leading authority on the links between cancer risk and diet (which includes alcohol), physical activity and weight management.

We can tell you whether there is any evidence that a particular lifestyle choice affects cancer risk. We can also tell you what type of cancer it affects the risk of and how strong the evidence is.

In many cases we will also be able to give the latest information on why scientists believe that a particular lifestyle choice increases or decreases cancer risk.

What we can’t help you with
Map The evidence is clear that not smoking is the best thing you can do for cancer prevention, but because it is so well established, it is not a focus for our charity. If your piece is about this, you might be better approaching another cancer charity in the first instance.

Also, we do not fund research into environmental factors that do not come under the definition of diet, physical activity and weight management, and so are not qualified to speak about them.

We also do not fund research into the treatment of cancer. Again, if this is the subject of your story then you would be better approaching another cancer charity. We do, however, look at how cancer survivors can reduce their risk of cancer recurring, and are able to talk about this subject.

What we can offer you?
newspaper Our media team is committed to providing journalists with up-to-date and reliable scientific information that is accessible and easy-to-understand.

We can provide factual information and guidance for background or quotes for a story. We can also offer information for features about both the science and about how people can make their lifestyles healthier.

Our experts have experience of being interviewed by the broadcast media and can put across complicated issues in an accessible way.
We will always try our best to provide expert interviewees for broadcast, though this does depend on their availability.
