Fruity Friday is an annual campaign by World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK). Show your support by taking part at your school on Friday 14 May 2010 – or any other Friday during the school term. Hold a non-school-uniform day, encouraging all year groups and teachers to get involved by wearing a yellow item of clothing and making a suggested donation of £1 to support WCRF UK's cancer prevention research and education programmes.
Step 1: Nominate a teacher or group of pupils who will get everyone involved and rally support! Download our essential fundraising pack and other useful resources.
Step 2: Write the date and the suggested donation for the dress-down day (we recommend a minimum of £1), on the schools campaign poster and pop it up in a prominent position. Register your event with us so we know what banana-tastic things you have planned.
Step 3: Order yellow items from the fruity shop to help you all Go Bananas. Collect donations from everyone who takes part using our downloadable collection box!
Step 4: Download our fruit-inspired National Curriculum Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 activity sheets to get pupils involved in this year’s campaign.
Step 5: Encourage pupils to enter our design a t-shirt competition by Friday 21 May 2010. The 1st prize winner in each age category (4 - 7, 8 - 11, 11 - 13 and 14 - 16) will have their winning design turned into a real t-shirt for them to wear, plus (insert details of prize offered by Dole). The 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category will win a high street shopping voucher to purchase a piece of sporting equipment.
We will announce the winners on WCRF UK's Facebook page on Friday 4 June so become a fan to find out who the lucky winners are.
Step 6: Count up the money that has been raised and donate the funds to World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK) by:
- Donating via our secure online payment page
- Sending a cheque, made payable to ‘World Cancer Research Fund’ and a
cover note to: World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK), Fruity Friday, FREEPOST 28 (SW7037), London W1E 1EU - Calling our friendly Fruity Friday Team on 0800 970 1461 to make a telephone donation
We love to find out what you did to Go Bananas on Fruity Friday. So tweet about it on WCRF UK's Twitter page and post stories and photos on WCRF UK's Facebook page.
