Cancer Prevention Charity: World Cancer Research Fund WCRF
Stopping cancer before it starts

Primary Schools

By taking part in Go Bananas on Fruity Friday you will be encouraging children to lead a healthy lifestyle that could help reduce their risk of cancer in the future. You will also be helping to raise much-needed funds that will allow WCRF UK's vital cancer prevention research and education programmes to continue.

Three simple steps to Go Bananas

1. Promote your event

Write your school name, the date and donation amount (we suggest £1) on the schools campaign poster and display it.

Download our essential fundraising pack and other exclusive online-only resources. Hold an assembly to promote Fruity Friday to students.

2. Find something yellow to wear

Order yellow items from the shop to help you all Go Bananas.

3. Go Bananas it’s Fruity Friday

Wear yellow and have fun. Remember to collect everyone’s £1 donation for wearing yellow using our collection box template.

Here are some other ideas for the day:

Fruity Friday Key Stage 1 and 2 activity sheets

Download WCRF UK’s Fruity Friday Key Stage 1 and 2 activity sheets. The learning intentions are outlined to explain what children will learn and which parts of the curriculum the sheet supports.

Fruity Friday fête

Have fun making healthy treats and fruity cakes, like raisin scones and banana and date muffins. Then invite everyone to try them for a small donation to WCRF UK. Why not organise a Fruity Friday fete and sell them alongside some delicious smoothies too? Visit WCRF UK's recipe section for more ideas and inspiration.

Tasting quiz

Have a blindfolded tasting session of unusual fruits and see if you can guess what each fruit is.

Great Grub Club

Children will enjoy visiting our Great Grub Club website to play interactive games and discover fun food facts. Take a look at the For Teachers section for ideas and free resources to get you and your KS1 or KS2 class learning about healthy living.
