Blazing Saddles

Each year they come back bigger and better! This year, which is their fifth challenge to date, the Blazing Saddles are made up of a team of friends and colleagues, and they are taking on a strenuous 350km bike ride from Oslo to Gothenburg!

The Blazing Saddles have raised almost £10,000 for World Cancer Research Fund by completing four previous challenges and they are hoping to continue this fantastic fundraising streak this year. The funds they raise will support WCRF's vital cancer prevention research and education work.

"Having conquered much of Northern Europe, the Saddles are about to embark on their biggest challenge yet.. and we need your support! On the 23rd of September this year, our annual trip will be a punishing 2 day cycle from our hometown of Oslo, along the eastside of the Oslo fjord, over the Swedish border and down the coast to Gothenburg, covering over 350km of the most arduous terrain possible, as always!  Weather and legs permitting we will cycle south, like a migrating flock of saddles, arriving in Gothenburg on 24th September with the now customary champagne in hand.  This year’s Saddles feature several new faces, and the absence of several regulars, due to the new arrivals of some Baby Saddles, but we see this as a way ensuring the continuity of the Blazing Saddles into the next generation!

Our plan this year is to cycle further and raise even more funds for this well-deserving charity. All of us have, and continue to be, touched by cancer; some of us only recently having lost loved ones to the disease. It's a cause close to our hearts and with WCRF working globally to prevent cancer, it's a charity that fits well with our multi-national biking gang and supporters. In the last three years we've raised almost £10,000 for WCRF so our aim is to continue to build on that. Thank you for continuing to support our adventures, please give generously and wish us well for what will undoubtedly be a seriously challenging trip!"
