Gareth Huxtable is taking part in the Brighton Marathon to raise funds for World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK). "There are no words that could describe quite how tragic this year has been. I know the people most closely connected to these events are in our thoughts and prayers everyday.

Cancer has been a big part of my family’s life; my mother, sister and cousin battled the disease and its consequences.  Then this summer came in Thailand and with it the worst possible news.

World Cancer Research Fund seeks to prevent cancer through scientific research and provides health education programs that reduce the risk of people acquiring the disease.  I find it incredible that in the 21st century these programs require funding.  However this is the reality so I am helping raise funds, and I am asking for your help too.

You might think that Gareth would be the last person to run a marathon, and up until recently I would have agreed with you.  This is for the best of causes though, and I am training with this in mind.  The 26-mile run will take place in Brighton in April 2012.
