Have fun and raise funds!
If you fancy doing your bit for cancer prevention, we are keen to hear from anyone who is interested in organising their own fundraising event.
A lot of our work would not be possible without the support of our enthusiastic community fundraisers up and down the country.
No matter how small your event, every little helps! Below are some ideas of things you could do to raise funds and have fun:

In your workplace – why not organise a dress down day, perhaps with a fun theme, charging participants a small fee to enter.
In the community – how about a car boot sale or coffee morning, dinner party, plant sale or raffle.
In schools – pupils could put on a sponsored sporting event, concert, play or fashion show to raise funds on our behalf.
At your local group or club – from golf to the Women’s Institute, annual or one-off events, choose WCRF UK to benefit from your club’s fundraising.
With friends and relatives – if you are about to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, why not donate to WCRF UK in lieu of receiving gifts?
Sponsored event – whether it’s a walk, run, climb, cycle, swim or even headshave, sponsored events are a great way to raise funds, and get valuable exercise too!
For a bit of inspiration…
When Kevin Bickerstaffe, from Dundee, lost his wife Pauline to cancer he decided to do something positive and raise funds for WCRF UK. Friends and family joined forces with Kevin in a ‘54 miles in 24 hours’ walking challenge in the Scottish Highlands.
Non-walkers organised their own fundraising events, such as buffet discos, raffles and collections, and Kevin’s fundraising total reached an amazing £12,000!

Support for your event
We’re here to give you a hand and provide you with a useful range of fundraising materials to help get you started; such as t-shirts, balloons, posters, stickers, sponsor forms, collection boxes etc. all free of charge.
Plus, our media department might be able to help you publicise your event in your local newspaper or on the radio. We can try to organise a press photographer or help with tips for taking your own photos on the day too.
So, don’t delay, send off today for your Fundraising Information Pack, which contains an A-Z of ideas, and items such as a materials request form and a sponsor form to get you started. You may find our handy ‘step by step’ guide to organising your own event useful, and instructions on how to send in your donation are also in the pack.
