Great North Run – Sunday 5 October 2008

Gareth Smith

Gareth Smith, a Marketing Communications Manager from the village of East Boldon, is taking part in his 9th Great North Run. This time he is running for WCRF UK, and is hoping to not only complete it in an impressive time but also raise as much money as possible for his chosen charity. "I'm running this year's Great North Run in order to raise much needed funds for a very worthy cause. World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) is a charity who, amongst other things, look to promote a healthy lifestyle and diet and in doing so - prevent the spread of this awful disease. They are also charity of the year at Acxiom and 2Touch's Sunderland site - my place of work.

This will be my 9th GNR and I hope to raise as much cash as possible by running the 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields in around 2 hours and 15 mins (with a following wind). So anything you can pledge, however large or small, would be very much appreciated.
