Helen Franks and Emma Bowering
Helen and Emma, two sisters from Sandhurst in Berkshire, are both happy to be finally taking part in the London Marathon, after many years of applying. But it is a bittersweet outcome, as sadly, they will be running in memory of their Father, who passed away recently from cancer. Completing the marathon will be a challenge both physically and emotionally, but with your support, Helen and Emma will cross the finish line, with the knowledge that they have raised as much as they can for vital cancer prevention research.
"We have entered for the London Marathon for the past 4 years and agreed that if one or both of us got in we'd run for a charity.
Our Dad was our biggest supporter & No 1 fan and came to every running event we have ever entered. We have had a pretty tough time this last year with Dad being diagnosed with bowel cancer and then passing away 5 weeks later on 25th September 2008. We are still coming to terms with it.
Emma got accepted 3 days after Dad passed away and here we both are running for a wonderful Charity WCRF UK to honour our wonderful & devoted No1 Fan – DAD. We are thinking of you always.
Anything you can give towards our sponsorship is greatly appreciated and we'd like to thank everyone for their support.
Emma & Helen xx” |
