Kevin Todd
Kevin Todd, 28, from Wrexham was named our Supporter of the Quarter for Autumn 2009. He also stars in WCRF UK’s video of our work.
After his close friend, Jonathan Ratcliffe, died from bowel cancer at just 28, Kevin decided to run the 2009 Flora London Marathon with his fiancée, Jane Entwistle, to raise money for WCRF UK. The couple raised over £4,500!
Jonathan, more commonly known as ‘Rattie’ amongst his friends, was a very inspirational character who was always the life and soul of the party. He was extremely successful at whatever sport he got involved with and this inspired his friends to get fit and raise money for cancer charities.
Kevin said: “It was such a huge shock when Jonathan was diagnosed. WCRF UK and other cancer charities hold such a special place in my heart and that’s why I wanted to run the marathon in Jonathan’s memory.
“It’s important to get WCRF UK’s message out there and show that eating healthily and getting lots of exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight can help to reduce your risk of cancer.”
Our thanks and thoughts go out to Kevin and Jane for such an incredible achievement!
