Doreen Maycock
Mrs Doreen Maycock from Buckinghamshire was WCRF UK’s Supporter of
the Quarter for summer 2009.
Doreen supports WCRF UK by using her hobby. She is a keen knitter who has sold her fun, brightly coloured knitted toys to help combat cancer. To date, almost £500 has been raised!
Over the years her designs have included golfers, cowboys, gardeners, Humpty Dumpties and Father Christmases. “I’ve been knitting since I was eight years old,” said Doreen. “I used to just knit jumpers and that kind of thing, but then I began to make soft toys.
“I support WCRF UK because a good friend of mine has cancer and I think it’s important to support a charity that can help stop cancer by funding cancer research. I knit for my friend. Every time I send in a donation I feel I am helping her.”
Doreen’s support, and that of our other supporters, is invaluable in allowing us to fund our research and education programmes of cancer prevention. We would love to hear from you about how you have raised money for WCRF UK. Please get in touch!
